The following is a simplified example of sign ups and matching for reference while making your sign up. For the purposes of this example, I'm only showing 1 request per person, but the minimum will be 3.

REQUEST 1.

Fandom Description and Excerpt Link: Stargate SG-1 is a military scifi show where an air force team travels to other planets through a wormhole using an alien artifact called the Stargate. The main characters are on a team sent to other planets to make first contact, learn about other cultures, and attempt to gain new technology. The villains are a group of aliens called the Goa'uld, who take over planets, rule by force, and pose as gods. The show is delightfully tropey (body swaps! time travel! clones! alternate universes!) with truly excellent characters. I am assigning the episode "Window of Opportunity" from the third season. (If you decide to continue, I recommend going back to the beginning as it is a continuous story). What you need to know for this ep - Colonel Jack O'Neill is the leader of the team, has a military background, and is often the jokiest character; Teal'c is a Jaffa (a group of aliens that are enslaved to the Goa'uld, incubate Goa'uld larvae, and fight their wars) who defected to Earth to fight against the Goa'uld, is traditionally stoic and full of grace (also with a great, if subtle, sense of humor); Daniel Jackson is an archeologist and linguist who lived on another planet for a year, and he and Jack share one brain cell in the best way and often butt heads with different world outlooks; Major Sam Carter is an astrophysicist and coolest person ever (at one point she blows up a sun!).

Sign ups for the exchange are open.

Some reminders:

Reminder: All requests MUST include a link to the chosen excerpt of the requested media. Creators are not required to look up anything on their own.

If any requests are left without links and/or link more than 2 hours of content without specifying what part to consume (ex. start at this timestamp, listen up to this point, watch the first 2 episodes from this playlist, etc) when sign ups close, I will email you, but please save me the time.

This includes if you are providing options. Example: "You can choose between this version of the canon or that version of the canon [brief description of each] [labeled link to version A] [labeled link to version B]." The excerpt(s) must be selected and provided by the requester.

Reminder: While up to 2 hours of content is allowed to be a part of the requirement, you don't have to reach that amount. If you want to link to an hour or 45 minutes or what have you, that is also good.

Reminder:
1. This exchange is not going to match you with what you want exactly nor what you normally consume. It *can*, but you might match with something you never consume or rarely do or have never heard of, which is part of the fun and challenge of participating. It's also why there is a hard limit of how much you will be required to consume. If you don't like anime, well, at most you will be watching 2hrs, writing 100 words. It's designed so that you give a try to something, not that you get an exact match to what you want.

2. This is not a big exchange. If matching is going to work, there can't be a lot of not-quite-but-awfully-close-to synonyms, or half of everyone will end up unmatchable because they're offering and requesting adjacent things.

3. Kind of building on 1, there is no guarantee to match on media at all. I will try to match as many people with two tags as possible but only guarantee a match of one tag. That could be "Media - Animation" (of any genre and content) or "Genre - Science Fiction" (of any media and content) or "Found Family" (included in any media and genre).

Nom Notes
  • Several duplicates rejected (please check the tagset before nominating to avoid duplicates)
  • "Media - Cartoons" and "Media - Anime" fall under "Media - Animation" which is already in the tagset
  • I have allowed both versions of Chess into the tagset, but I will request that they not be used to avoid meeting the 3 unique fandom request requirement (if you request both, you should make a minimum of 4 total requests to keep yourself matchable)
